Why institutions switch

The desktop era is ending for a reason

Most microfinance institutions in Nigeria still run on one PC, a spreadsheet or a manual ledger. The symptoms are familiar.

Field collections leak

Cash collected in the market is written in a notebook and posted hours or days later, if at all.

Month-end takes weeks

Trial balances do not agree, interest and charges are computed by hand, returns are assembled from several files.

Branches cannot see each other

Head office waits for emailed reports; a customer can only be served where the account was opened.

A single PC is the bank

When it fails, or the person who knows the password leaves, operations stop.

Digital field application

Collections in the market, approved at the branch, posted the same day

Field officers record deposits and withdrawals on Android against the customer's account. The batch waits for a supervisor. Nothing double-posts on a weak signal, and a leaver's access ends the moment they are deactivated.

  • Same login, permissions and maker-checker as the web
  • Idempotent submissions and same-day duplicate detection
  • Balance and ledger enquiry for any customer
  • Supervisors approve loans and expenses on the move

Controls a regulator expects

Books that balance by construction

Every customer posting has a general ledger counter-leg. Every approval needs a second officer. Every action is on the audit log.

Maker-checker everywhere

Loans, journals, expenses, batches and account openings.

Full audit trail

Every login and posting against a named officer; reversals, never deletions.

Closed periods

No user and no setting can post into a closed month.

Your own database

One isolated database per institution, exportable at any time.

Transparent pricing

No licence lump sum. No surprises.

Transparent subscription pricing with no licence lump sum. Every plan includes hosting, daily backups, updates and support. Prices exclude VAT.

FAQ

Questions institutions ask first

All questions →
What is Zenus Banking Pro?

Zenus Banking Pro is cloud core banking software for microfinance institutions, cooperatives, thrift collectors and fintech lenders in Nigeria. It covers customers, tellers, savings and deposit products, loans, transfers, the general ledger, reports, alerts and an Android app for field officers, with maker-checker controls and a full audit trail.

Who owns our data?

Your institution does. It sits in a database used only by you, and you can request a full export at any time, including on exit.

What happens when the internet goes down?

Postings already made are safe. Tellers resume when the connection returns; a retried submission is recognised and never posted twice. Field batches are captured on the phone and submitted for approval when there is signal.

Who can see our data?

Only your staff, according to the permissions your administrator sets. Our support engineers access an institution's database only for a support request you have raised, and every such access is logged.

Do we need any hardware?

A laptop or desktop with a modern browser per counter, an Android phone per field officer and an internet connection. A receipt printer is optional.

Can we host it ourselves?

A self-hosted licence is available on request for institutions whose policy requires it.
